Collaboration
On shared projects, a document is edited live by everyone who has it open. Edits merge character by character; there is no locking and no “who saved last wins” for the document body.
Presence
Section titled “Presence”- In the document: each collaborator’s caret and selection show in their colour. The peer row above the document lists who is in it (click a name to scroll to their caret), and chips in the gutter mark peers who are scrolled off-screen.
- Across the project: avatars in the header show who has the project open; dots on scene cards and badges in the documents sidebar show where they are. A badge on a scene field means someone is editing it right now — an advisory hint, not a lock.
Presence drops out about a minute after a tab is hidden.
Connection states
Section titled “Connection states”The status strip reports the live state: connecting, synced, reconnecting, read-only (you have view access), too large (the document exceeds 2 MB), or failed. Connections are refreshed roughly hourly and reconnect on their own with backoff; you keep typing throughout.
Ctrl+Z / ⌘Z undoes your own edits only. Collaborators’ and Manan’s edits never enter your undo stack.
When live editing is unavailable
Section titled “When live editing is unavailable”Some projects save through the ordinary autosave path instead. There, edits save about a second after you stop typing, and if your copy fell behind, the server’s version wins block by block except the block your cursor is in — you never lose the paragraph you are typing, but two people editing the same block at once is last-writer-wins. The strip shows Conflict resolved when this happened.
Access
Section titled “Access”Who can open and edit a document follows the project’s access: project owner and organization owners edit everything; explicit Edit shares and workspace editors edit; View shares and workspace viewers read. See Roles and access.
